Through stream-of-consciousness aural atmospherics, Lance Herbstrong takes you on a trip, sustaining musical momentum with sonic layers propelling the rhythms.  The result is music that is ethereal and organic, of the air and of the earth, and always moving.  The nation’s most esteemed climate scientists described their first Lance Herbstrong show as a ‘motherfuckin Fun Bomb that just goes off inside you.’

*Rex Riddem (DJ Set)
 (Wash DC/Fort Knox Recordings)

Born and Raised the diverse, international city, Washington DC, Rex Riddem is a direct product of the confluence  of Chocolate City melding with the epicenter of modern day Babylon.  Rex, a DJ, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist draws from the influences of his unique upbringing and world travels to create soundscapes of the African Diaspora with contemporary twists. 

 As a DJ, Rex Riddem has played throughout the continental US as well as Hawaii, St. John, Lisbon, and a 5 city tour of Brasil.  Rex has played with DJ heroes Afrika Bambaattaa (whom he played percussion for on a the album “Dark Matter Moving at the Speed of Light”) Diplo, Bassnectar, Numark, Beats Antique, Ursula 1000,  and Rich Medina.  Two of Rex’s Recent highlights as a DJ have been playing support for Bassnectar, at the 9:30 Club, two consecutive years, and an eight month residency, with the Fort knox Five at Eye Candy Lounge, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas.

Rex’s first release “Salvador Diaspora” was featured on several international compilations, including the world renown “Brazilectro” series.  It has also been featured on the “Top Chef Masters UK” television series.  On percussion Rex backed Thunderball (ESL Records) with whom he toured Russia and played as support on the Pretty Lights tour 2010.

Get ya'self together and drive that funky soul.

Afrofreque’s music is soulful hip-hop, sprinkled with funk, afrobeat and reggae. The grooves are funky and the lyrics are positive and conscious, reflecting hip-hop culture, social issues and just plain having fun. Afrofreque is known not only for their for their tightly arranged hip hop and soul compositions, but also for their high energy live performances and and tasty live improvs.

The group, headed by MC Tigre Liu, is an experienced and talented bunch. Band members are/have been integral parts of other bands such as The Killer Bees, Big Game Hunter, Dirty Wormz, Patrice Pike, David Garza, Laura Scarborough, Raggamassive, Futurelight Sound System, Pressure, and Shantytown Underground.

*Chesterfield 11:15p

Chesterfield is a dynamic, indie funk band born out of Project Imagine in Austin, TX made up of Sean Ferrell on Bass, Rsi on Drums, Andy Cowden and Andy Tenberg on Guitar, Justin Hindman on Keys, Raymond Johnson on Sax, and Matt Vaught on Vocals. We gonna have a funky good time.
